Au Printemps

I love Paris in the springtime! Except, while I was there, it wasn't quite spring. The clouds followed us from the UK, unfortunately, but to redeem the crap weather there was the glorious backdrop of the Hausmann-ised rues of la belle ville (I feel a bit Holly Golightly with my Frenglish writing). Of course, when you travel somewhere you only take in the best and often idealised parts of it. But what would a trip to Paris be without at least a bit of romanticisation? To get us in the mood, we got our nouvelle vague on with Godard's À Bout de Souffle.

I thus felt compelled to take most of my photos in black and white to attempt to emulate that early 60s arthouse feel.

It's unfortunate that most things produced today simply look like mediocre facsimiles of the art of yesteryear- my photos being no exception. All the same, it's fun to do. The top photo is Dan on the train on our way to Versailles. The bottom one is the view from our flat.
We also decided it would be fun if we brought along our standard 8mm cameras and filmed eachother at Versailles (complete with lots of jump cuts and mouth close-ups à la Godard). We haven't got them developed yet but I'm dying to see the end product. This trip was in late February, while my hair was still blue.
